The work is larger than life black silhouettes of young girls placed against the urban skyline. Constructed from iron sheets, forged and painted pitch black, they seem like sharp, black cut out of the sky. Holes, into which, millions of girls disappear from the face of the earth. These expanded forms act as memorials to these young girls who have disappeared, vanished into thin air.

It is hoped that these emblematic silhouettes generate curiosity, recognition and finally a sense of deep loss, recovering them to from the abyss of the sky. A recovery that inspires millions of others to act on behalf of the fate of those who have disappeared (into forced migration) and are alluded by justice.

“"From the Shadows" a film by Miriam Chandy Menacherry is a compelling documentary that marries public art with activism. Directed by Leena Kejriwal, the film captures the powerful visuals of Leena's own Missing campaign, where silhouetted stencils of girls become stark symbols against the city walls, each one representing the haunting frequency of child disappearances in India.

As Leena transitions from observer to active participant in this mission, the film presents a girl who dares to confront her traffickers, igniting a daunting legal fight. It questions the efficacy of a system with a dismal conviction rate, suggesting collusion between traffickers and some law enforcement agents.
